The XY Series Laser Radar Level Meter is a non‑contact level measurement instrument that uses a semiconductor laser to emit continuous or high‑speed pulsed laser beams. When the beam hits the surface of the material being measured, it reflects back to the laser receiver. The instrument precisely records the time delay between emission and reception, calculating the exact distance from the laser radar to the target.

How It Works

The distance (D) to the material surface is directly proportional to the pulse travel time (T):

D = C × T / 2

where C is the speed of light.

Since the empty tank distance (E) is known, the actual level is calculated as:

Level = E – D

The processor then converts this into a percentage of the user‑defined range and outputs the corresponding signal.

Two measurement modes available:

  • Pulse method – for long‑distance general applications

  • Phase method – for higher precision requirements
